We are going to end this month with a banger. There was no good bets previous days, but today, we have it and we need to go all in on it.

When we talk about this two in recent years, we are talking about two of the best teams in whole Europe. Serbia was always on top, but in recent years, Belgium does a great job in youth categories and it pays off for now. They become a real “player” in women’s basketball.

Serbia plays with confidence in front of the home crowd and it shows in the box score. They were lacking bodies down low in the match with Russia, but still managed to contain them and prevent a catastrophe in the paint with pure effort. One other thing on Serbia’s side is that they have a great amount of protection from the Refs, you could see it in the first match a lot with Belarus, and even with Russia they played little bit more aggressive and did not get called for it.

Belgium relies on two things. A day of Meesseeman, shooting of Kim Mestdagh and of course, of creativity of Allemand. Allemand is not a highest level player, and she is usually left open to shoot a three, her efficiency  behind the line is just terrible at moments. Meesseman is probably one of the top, if not the top player in this tournament but she can not do It all alone. She scored 30 against Russia and they were still struggling to take them out. She sometimes gets the ball too early in offense, without getting her position set, or even too late, when the double team is coming and there is no time for the extra pass. That is a bit of a problem for this Belgium team, they sometimes look at her to go to work and the rest are just standing around, no spacing, no cutting.

Sonja Petrovic is for me the only player that can “contain” Meesseman. She is Lebron James in a Women’s edition, a calculator on a floor, a shooter when she needs to be, a leader all the time. Serbia will ride her to victory. Expect a 20 pint performance, easy.

Serbia for me at this moment is not stronger by “names” but is a better team overall, better coached and I would even say, hungrier to take it.
